This is a tangent--there exist a few mostly Italian dropped-top-tube racing bikes that are NOT sweet handling sport machines. These are little rolling Thalidomide babies that are very hairy and scary to ride; I have seen and test-ridden a Colnago Super and a Cinelli SC that were geometrically the same as the standard models of either of those bikes with the exception of the top tube having been dropped into the triangle a la step-through Raleigh Sports! They felt like they weren't rigid enough for their quick handling, hence the scary ride!
