It's scary how much dirt can be found in a used set of hubs though. I like to take the dustcaps off the first time I clean them, and leave them in place for subsequent cleanings. I go on the assumption they'll never be that dirty again. To set the dust caps flush you need a suitable soft round object that will contact edge of dust cap and is large enough to also contact hub so that once hub is flush it won't drive cap in any further. I beleive I used a piece of brass round stock Hard to believe they missed making a special cap installation tool. my 02 cents.
