I've learned not to trust my memory these days, but I sold dozens & dozens of PX-10's, PR-10's, U0-8's, A0-8's and every other model of Peugeot bike made in the early 70's. They even made me a custom 26" frame PX-10 (alas, I never got,but that is a very long tale of what happened to that bike). That is when and how I obtained the decals shown. Some of the decals (the seat tube one I remember most) were the same on all the models, I'm almost certain. The decals are very hard to show since the are water-slides (that what we used to call them) and so the right reading side is under the brown paper. Makes them hard to read (kinda like the Masi dealer decal which did find a loving home, btw). I haven't come across any Peugeot catalogs yet since I have been concentrating on getting stuff sorted out, listed and sold, not fondling it. I have a bankers box jammed with catalogs & brochures that I haven't done much more than haul up to my office (tho I did remember I have the Lambert brochure.)
But as a newbie to the list, I am truly perplexed at why you would say: "Sometimes I hate to promote Ebay". How else is the fair value to all concerned to be established? I see more stuff, really good stuff, going for far less than I think it is worth, rather than more. It's fun for example to run a modest inflation factor on top of NOS merchandise and see how these (not by you, but others have described them) "inflated" or "exorbitant" prices are actually a lot less than they should be. Priced a set of Record hubs lately? Trek 5900, anybody? What do you think is fair for stuff not made for over 30-40-50 years?
I'll confess Sunday night was pretty giddy when the Masi bottle went over $200. But the winner is excited and happy and anxious to have it in his hands. Ditto me; his money. What is wrong with that? Somebody has to go drink wine at that little restaurant just over the Ponte Vecchio with maybe a little plate of Proscuitto e melone after an early morning bike ride up to Fiesole and beyond. I could sit home and look at my Masi water bottle or fly to Rome and ride north. Guess which one I decided to do?
Do feel free to ask me about my auction items. I'm here for you, a least until I have enough for the Italy trip. Then I am outahere, but I'll send postcards.
