To see what Eric Heiden is up to now, see this link: http://tinyurl.com/3josu A few years ago my wife attended a conference in Hawaii where he was presenting, and he invited attendees and spouses to join him on his morning rides. Of course I didn't think to bring a bike, dammit, and I wasn't about to follow his wheel on a rented mountain bike either. Eric had a wreck on the 18th stage, sustaining a concussion. This effectively ended not only his TdF, but his cycling career as well. He continues to support cycling today as a physician. Eric sounds to me like a humble guy who has used his talents well. Another great American story. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL _______________________________________________
