My brother had a Pollard custom built around 1950, and used it very successfully for time trialing, touring, and everyday transport for many years. In later years he even towed a home made trailer with it to transport his son on club runs. It covered many thousand miles without a problem, and was later sold to another clubman who continued to race on it. I recently saw one in bare metal ready for re-enamelling, and the workmanship on the frame was sound. Not all Pollards had the seat stay arrangement described, as they also used a more conventional arrangement. Pollards never achieved the fame of some other British marques, but were one of many small scale builders in the post war period who produced well made frames, mostly for local clubmen.
