******** I assume when the frame is being "fixtured", the builder has a preference or can imagine where the rear axle should be positioned. Where would a good builder "see" that axle?
Regards, Richard Cielec Chicago, Illinois ******** With long slot horizontals, a "good" builder's chainstay length would be established to meet design spec from BB center to the axle centerline at a point between 6 to 9mm in front of the rear derailleur hanger eye as that is where the axle center "should" be relative to the hanger eye to ensure the best shifting with modern components. YMMV with old components or not so good builders.... :)
