Many moons ago, someone told me that the easy way to spot aftermarket frame chroming is to look at the bb. If it wasn't polished for chroming before assembly, there will be lots of roughness where the polishing wheels could not go. In my experience, platers often enlarge the "weep holes" or air holes in the stays, to assure drainage of the various acids and nefarious fluids.

Echoing others, if the bike is sound and rides well, enjoy it for a long time!
