In addition to private shops and individuals, Gita Sporting Goods in Charlotte (once upon a time DeRosa, Giordana, & Colnago, currently Merckx, Pinarello and Opera) was the official exclusive importer of Grandis into the USA.

The on-topic steel lugged Grandis bikes had some interesting features. They were one the first to have the makers logo engraved in the head tube, the curved rear brake bridge was also someone unusual for Italian frames, but the most unique detail was the long spear point extension tangs on the bottom bracket shell.. These were done using a unique-as-far-as-I-know technique of sort of a dove tailed joint (Actually I am not sure what the wood working term is.. Dennis?) where the added on tang is interlocked with the reshaped BB shell lip. You can often see that seam under the paint of many of the frames....
