As for the Cyclone, the Vx may have worked as well, but the original Cyclone and Superbe sure were pretty, and still a fraction of Campy price. Didn't care much for the look of the later aero versions, though.

Any of the Grande Compe brakes were great stoppers and not bad looking. The one part I haven't seen on the wish lists are the Nitto Pearl Stems...hmmmm.

If we were going to make a best value 70's bike however, there was no need to spend the money on the Cyclone when a VX worked just as well. Hell it would be hard to build up any Suntour/Diacompe/Nitto/SR bike that was not good value.
