Larry Osborn called attention to a Raleigh Pro auction:

<snip>

http://ebay.com/<blah> rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW That is one sad old Raleigh Pro. I hope somebody takes pity on it. On the plus side, it does NOT have an AVA death stem, so it's not going to turn right around and try to kill it's new owner. That's a good thing.

<snip> +++++++++++++++++++++++ I'd note a few things that may be relevant to potential buyers:

1) 151 BCD Campy cranks, not the 144s that came in about 1967 or 68. If you want this to become an original "rider," remember that minimum ring size is 44 th, and that all rings are much less common than the 144s.

2) The early Campy Record front derailleur with cable stop, strongly suggested by the cable clamp at the BB instead of braze-ons. These are much less common than later models, and the general wisdom is that they are somewhat more valuable.

3) braze-on cable stop for center-pull back brake.

4) to my eyes, those look like inexpensive early 60s steel-center alloy-flanged hubs...but seller doesn't claim they are original.

I do not plan to bid on this bike, and don't recognize the seller's name, and otherwise have no intersted but curiosity about the outcome.

Larry, please don't beat me for <snipping> the philosophy, well said once seemed enough. :-)
