Thanks for posting the photos. I had wondered what Sheldon Brown meant by the "Comic-book graphics", http://www.sheldonbrown.com/vrbn-a-f.html, of very early Colnagos. I wasn't sure what to expect. These like nice to me.

I do believe Mike Kone was referring to an even earlier set of graphics in his comments on Sheldon's site... I've seen a single photo of a 1960s Colnago, dim and blurry, taken at a race, and the graphics are rather comic-bookish. I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw this picture.. but I'm not imagining it. There is such a pic, and is shows a graphics package for Colnago that I've never seen in the flesh, or in any other picture, for that matter... be fun to have one of *those* bikes, wouldn't it? Very rare stuff, for sure.

Concerning Carlos Kleiber one of the greatest of all post-war conductors:

The glamour often associated with a conductor's life held no appeal for him; he preferred to stay at home in Munich. He once told Leonard Bernstein: "I want to grow in a garden. I want to have the sun. I want to eat and drink and sleep and make love and that's it."
