I use lead solder for filling dents and such -- it's melting point is considerably lower than even cadmium silver so it has less detrimental effect on the tubing.

I've never tried filling file marks; usually going over it with a finer file and abrasive paper will take care of those. And I never use a rough file on a tube, except for mitering. If you prep the lugs and tubes and braze properly, you shouldn't have a great deal to clean up, and what there is can be done with a fine file or riffler, followed by sandpaper.

For filling large gaps, e.g. head tube reinforcement rings made from a split piece of head tube, I'll use no-cad silver.

For filling large voids, such as chainstay ends at the dropout, nickel/brass solder works well.
