rod posted a rather bilious note:

You make me-and others sick. Once again you use the list as your personal WHINE outlet. When others post such warnings to the list-YOU criticize them. Are we supposed to ignore the fact that for you the CR list exists solely as a forum for your arrogance and as a means for you to hype your eBay sales. I have added you to my auto-delete button. Seems to me Rod, that long before you joined this list, Steve Maasland was offering valuable information about the bikes we love. I haven't seen anything like that from you. Steve has contributed a great deal to our common knowledge base. I've been on this list nearly since it was founded, when there were just a few of us, and I can't think of too many other people here who have contributed more than Steve has.

I have had nothing but the best dealings with Steve Maasland. He is extremely scrupulous in all his dealings with everyone on this list, so far as I know. I really value that. I've done numerous excellent deals with Steve, and would deal with him anytime. He offers all kinds of cool stuff, both to the list, and on ebay. I, for one, am *glad* he tells the list about his auctions.

Why the hostility? Steve is a valuable part of this community. If you differ with his characterization of a certain ebay deal, fine. But why the bile? When you've contributed as much as he has to this list, maybe you can go off on him like that and we'll take you seriously. As it is? I don't think so.
