Peter, I'll keep this brief because it is veering off-topic. "Litvak" sounds like it refers to Latvia but it truly refers to the Jewish community of Lithuania. Perhaps it also is used by Latvian Jews since even their religious-intellectual capital would have been Vilna (or as it is often called, Vilnius or Vilensis).
