Highly recommended reading is Paul Fournel's "Need for the Bike". He's got some wonderful slang/phrases to describe different bike experiences. "The man with the hammer" for 'bonking', etc. A great read for describing the biking experience and what makes it so rewarding.

I enjoy traditional terminology for components and actions but also appreciate the cleverness of some newer slang. I could swear that someone on CR some years ago had shared a French term for a wheelsucker that translated literally to wool muncher. Altavista babelfish yields "mangeur de laines" for this. Can anyone recall this because I sure can't find it in the CR archives? It is a remarkably evocative phrase and probably endangered in these lycra-clad times.
