My early '80s Mondonico has a head-tube stamp that is visible through the paint. It's really thin paint. I haven't seen others, but haven't looked, either.

I don't think the stampings appear through paint in most cases. When I stripped my Windsor down to the chromed main tubes there were, iir, nickle-sized columbus insignias next to the bb shell attachment. Very shallow stampings to prevent stress risers, and probably entirely on the butt section of the tubes.
