I have a set of Super Record levers as follows: long reach levers (top of lever cut off at 90°), "U" shaped cable relief on underside of levers (not circular), and drilled and chamfered holes in the levers (not punched out with the distended ovalized holes typically found on later SR levers).
My conclusion would be that since only the very first SR levers had actual drilled and not punched holes in the levers and my levers have the "U" shaped cable relief holes, it is unlikely (not likely) that the SR levers ever came with the circular cable relief holes. The Record brakeset came out in 1968 and the Super Record brakeset came out six years later in 1974; plenty of time to decide a "U" shaped cable relief hole would work better than a circular cable relief hole.
