I should have said:

Ron Cooper used circles in the lug cutouts, circles and ovals in the BB shell lugs, and circles and ovals in the BB shell early on (early 70's). Additionally, in the mid-70's he used the 4 playing card suits in the fork reinforcements, and the stock Bocama lug 'hearts'. Lots of his bikes were different. On mine, the circles are either filed prior to brazing, or drilled at an angle, so the edges of the holes are bevelled.

You can see examples of the 4-suits fork reinforcements, and the Bocama hearts here: http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/My-Brothers-Ron-Cooper?page=1

Raysport's R was in the BB shell, not the lugs or fork reinforcements. Those used circles. There were ovals in the seat cluster and BB shell lugs.

In fact, lots of manufacturers used ovals in the BB shell lugs, including DeRosa, Pinarello, Masi, Torpado, and many more. These must have been a stock feature of the BB shell lugs, from whoever made them.

Torpado used diamonds on the higher end models.

Ron Cooper used circles and ovals early, and later several different things (I forget exactly what, go take a look at the Ron Cooper gallery pages linked by CR, and at WJ - I think it was all the playing card suits in some cases).

Pinarello used 'cloves'.

As we all know, DeRosa used hearts early on, as did several other manufacturers later (they shaped them from the stock shapes cut into Bocama Pro lugs, many of which later came with a very heart looking cutout stock). Bocama Pro lugs also had triangles (deltas?) for stock cutouts in the early 70's. These were seen on Raleigh Pro's, and the top end Motobecanes, as well as others.

Raysport used an R.

Albert Eisentraut used a spade cutout on his Limited road frames back in the mid 70's. Rumor has it that the die ended up in the hands of Bianchi USA and was used on their japanese frames in the 80's.
