Harvey,

Ideally, the bike, the rack, and the bag would be built all by the same person, so that these details are all accounted for. That is the essence of the untimate constructeur bike. Every detail is taken into account. I have become facinated with this recently and find it adds another very exciting demension to building a COMPLETE custom bicycle.

I'm smitten with the magic of designing and building the entire bicycle. There's nothing like it in cycling and these bikes are going to be the wave of the future.

Anybody have any suggestions for sidepull compatible mini racks? The Rivendell Mark's rack is sold out and the only other alternative I could

find was the Gilles Berthoud. Definitely nice but a bit pricey. Looking for a cheaper alternative before I shell out the bucks for the Berthoud. ++++++++++++++++++++++ Funny thing is that I have a nice Weigle with one of Peter's own mini-ra cks. The other day, for the first time I hung a bag from it, and it lea ds me to make a suggestion: Measure first.

In my case, the distance from the centerline of the handlebars to the to p of the rack is about 11" (28 cm). I have no bag that is more than ~8" (20 cm) tall.* Ergo, mini-rack never sees the bag. It is an unusual sig ht... I was using an old carrier that mounts the bag level with the bars , but out ahead so there is room for hands on the tops of the bars.

Of course, with a smaller frame, this gap disappears, so again, measure what you have.

BTW, it isn't Peter Weigle's fault that the handlebars are at this heigh t.

Your mileage may vary. harvey sachs mcLean va *No, I'm not interested in a bag that is 11" tall. How would I get stuf f out while riding?
