Subject: [CR]Wtd. advice: Paint touch-up and reproduction decals.

Hello All,

My current project is the resurection of a 60 year old 650B French Mixte (thanks Jan!). Although the bike doesnt seem like it had a lot of kilometers under its wheels, it has unfortunately suffered a hard life being banged about in a storage shed. Theres a fair amount various size chips on the chainstays and various tubes on the frame, but most of the paint loss is on the chainstays. The frame is ivory with ornate red pin striping.

Whats the best way to tackle the touch-up job?

Should I use a paint brush or my old modeling airbrush?

What kind of paint should I use for the best durability?

Is model paint ok, or should I go the the automotive paint store?

One of the downtube decals took a direct hit and was destroyed. The decal on the opposite side of the downtube is in excellent shape though. I'd like to replace it.

Who on the list makes decals???

Thanks in advance. I'd be happy to send a pic of the bike if it would help with the asessment of the project.

Regards,
Dave Martinez
