Perhaps I should qualify it with "moder era." Anyways, thanks for visiting. Odd to think that today Gitane, Bianchi and Peugeot are all owned by the same company.....

Looking through the site I noticed this statement that brought a bemused smile to my face: "Racing -- Gitane has arguably the greatest race history of any bicycle manufacturer. No other bicycle manufacturer can compare with Gitanes legendary palmares."
You mention Gitan started winning in the 1960s when Jacques Anquetil rode Gitanes. Both Peugeot and Bianchi date back to the mid 1880s and would make Gitane's palmares look not so grand in comparison I would think. I do own a Gitane Super Corsa, along with Peugeots and Bianchis...
