There is also a "Brevetti Italiani (Acp)" series, held in 13 regions of Italy . 19 dates; the first one in 2006 is 5 March, last is 1 October. Distances are either 200km, 300km, 400km, 600km and 1000km. Italy would be a nice place for long rides.

In a past issue of one of the cycling magazines there was an article of an Italian frame builder building randonneuring bikes. Don't recall who it was.
