Some people collect bikes ... I collect Wing Nuts and Quick Release Seat Post Bolts.
This started when I was a kid and people were throwing out their folding and utility bikes and buying ten speeds. I would have taken in the poor folders if I had the space, but I didn't. Instead I took off the nicest looking parts which, in the case of folders, was their Q.R. Seat Post Bolts.
Some makers went to the trouble of casting their names into the handle and were actually quite nice. Some makers simply used standard seat post bolts with wing nuts. So I collected those as well.
With the help of ebay, I've come to realize what a huge variety of wing nuts and Q.R. Seat Post Bolts have been used over the years.
On occasion I buy a few.
One thing I've noticed is that "Bell" wing nuts sell for crazy high prices to a handful of Japanese collectors. What makes Bell wing nuts so desireable?
