Peter,

Great bike, and Merry Christmas! I did the same thing as you last year, and built up a CFX frameset that was rescued from a dumpster. I couldn't find any Spidel badged derailleurs, but found some with Peugeot badges. I had to repaint the frame with a hand-mixed silvery pearl white after masking off the decals, and was able to touch up the decals with paint (again, I mixed the iridescent orange for the Peugeot decals, and got a great match). Cyclart rechromed the fork, and I built the wheels with Super Champion rims and Normandy Luxe hubs. I used a Brooks saddle, but if anyone can give me a lead on an Ideale 2001 or 2002, please get in touch! I can vouch that it rides great--a little longer wheelbase and top tube than an equivalent-sized Italian frame, but quick turn in and very stable in a downhill. Take it out and enjoy!
