John knows this but just to clarify. Most Universal models came in a wide range of lengths. Collecting all the brakes in all the lengths would be a mighty challenge.

\r?\n>
\r?\n> Ray, the mod 61's came in a few different lengths- it was common to
\r?\n> have
\r?\n> fronts a different reach than the rears. Can you measure them
\r?\n> somehow
\r?\n> and let me know what you have, or what you need. Maybe I can help.

\r?\n> a bike in my case
\r?\n>
\r?\n>
\r?\n> i've got another good activity for today: i'm finishing putting
\r?\n> together a 1967 cinelli model b, with an empty house and lots of
\r?\n> leftovers at my disposal. this "b" is the beauty that eddie albert
\r?\n> offered to the list about a month ago. i was lucky enough to be
\r?\n> the one
\r?\n> who got it - thanks eddie for making it possible. i received it
\r?\n> (very
\r?\n> well packed in two boxes) about two weeks ago, and i've been very
\r?\n> slowly
\r?\n> putting it together since then. today i plan to finish it.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> it is a very, very pretty bike, with a gorgeous paint job by
\r?\n> peter
\r?\n> weigle. this bike takes care of replacing a bike i regret having
\r?\n> sold
\r?\n> many years ago, a 1970 cinelli sc. i find the b to be as pretty,
\r?\n> and
\r?\n> even more interesting than my old sc, and it's the same color as
\r?\n> the sc
\r?\n> i sold, so with this b i no longer feel the pain of having sold the
\r?\n> sc.
\r?\n> it's just what the bike blues doctor ordered! if i can, i'll have
\r?\n> some
\r?\n> photos on my website tonight as well.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> btw, this is the oldest bike i've ever owned, and it is the first
\r?\n> time
\r?\n> i set up universal model 61 calipers. i've only set up the rear so
\r?\n> far,
\r?\n> and in doing so i noticed that the brake pads, even at their lowest
\r?\n> position, are just barely low enough to hit the rim sidewalls
\r?\n> without
\r?\n> hitting the tire. is it possible that this bike was designed for
\r?\n> 27"
\r?\n> wheels? is there a dropbolt that i can use to lower the caliper?
\r?\n>
\r?\n> in a little while i'll know if i have the same situation up front.
