Opinions are just that, opinions. Lots of people think a 1981 Peugeot PXN-10e with it's crude wormanship is a mass produced pile of French garbage. That's another opinion (not mine BTW). It really gripes me Peter when people put down things as you did here. Obviously the new technology of powdercoating is not for you. My bikes are all painted also, but I do have a custom frame coming that will be powdercoated. Will I like it? I have no idea, but I hope so. If not, it'll more than likely be my last. At least I'll have experienced it and can maybe talk intelligently about the pros and cons of it some day. One shouldn't discount something just because it isn't their thing.

Ah, that feels much better getting that off my chest...... me, I'm (supposed to be) working, and yes, I'm having a bad day!

\r?\n> not bikes) it's really simple: did they paint PX-10s, Raleigh Pros,

\r?\n> Cinellis etc. in the CR List timeframe with "powder coat" paint. If no

\r?\n> t,

\r?\n> then I wouldn't. Someone always has to "improve" on the original. Driv

\r?\n> es me

\r?\n> nuts. And this business about durability and chipping... you're ta

\r?\n> lking

\r?\n> classic bikes here, not a wheelbarrow. I mean what do you guys do with y

\r?\n> our

\r?\n> bikes, wrap 'em around lampposts or run 'em off cliffs? The original pai

\r?\n> nt

\r?\n> on my PX-10 (1969) looks as good as the day it left the shop. A good,

\r?\n> mediocre factory paint job with plain auto emamel. Good enough then, goo

\r?\n> d

\r?\n> enough now.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> Anyway, paint ain't paint. And cheapness and ease of putting it on ain't

\r?\n> no

\r?\n> reason to use it. The real cost and work of a proper paint job is the

\r?\n> colour AND gloss match, the prep work and the application.... the

\r?\n> paint

\r?\n> cost is not even an issue. I associate "powder coat" with some Chinese-m

\r?\n> ade

\r?\n> "Raleigh" hydbrid. And surely you can't get it in cool original colours

\r?\n> like Humber Polychromatic Lilac anyway?

\r?\n>

\r?\n> Ah, that feels much better getting that off chest.... me, I'm off

\r?\n> on my

\r?\n> first ride on my 1981 Peugeot PXN-10e with its vintage Pearl White paint,

\r?\n> thanks very much.
