Members,
I had purchased a used touring Folllis in 1958. I do not know the model or the year of its production. I would appreciate any information you could share with me, about this bike. Does anyone happen to have an early 50's Follis catalog? I have been told that the bike is above average because of the lug work. The brake cable passes though the top tube, and there is a set of braze-ons for the hand pump, the front top lug says Follis, and the bottom front lug says Lyon. I do not have the Follis badge. I was wondering if the early Follis badges were difference from the later models. The bike has the original rims, with Maxicar hubs that have the blue dust caps. I have the aluminum railed Ideale saddle. The crank is Stronglite, the stem is AVA, freewheel is Atom, Mafac brakes, Semplex drop outs , Semplex bottom bracket and Semplex skewers. I have the original handlebars, but do not know the brand. I do not have the original pedals, derailleurs or shifters. The head set has been replaced. I believe the original headset was Semplex. The bike was repainted in 1983. I also replaced the derailleurs, headset and pedals at that time. I do have photo's that I could e-mail to any members that are interested in this bike. At this time I would like to mention that I still enjoy riding this bike.
Thank You
