I think he got a good deal but you are right, it will be very difficult to put this bike back in anything resembling original condition without spending a lot of money. I think it would be fun if someone has the skills and workshop. This statement by the seller would keep me from bidding. It sounds to me like he is washing his hands of it once he drops it off for shipment. Since the shipper is the one who has to file a claim in case of loss or damage, that is a bit too much risk for many people to take.
