Speaking of CCM cranks, I have just recently added CCM literature to my catalog archive, and photos of my off topic CCM Red Bird to my collection page. It has the cotterless cranks and there is a good view of them on the Red Bird, if anyone is interested.

This is the CCM Triplex "hanger" and my catalogue scans show it on bikes as early as 1921. They used the Triplex hanger up to WWII, as well as the traditional cottered cranks and 1 piece roadster cranks.

Hugh, your Flyer dates to 1930.
