Dan Christopherson asked about short stiff frames in a sprint... ...skipping rear wheels, (truncated)

They go where the forces take them, in the initial jump of a sprint, often out of the saddle, side forces can be great, add to that the unloading of the rear wheel as weight is transfered forward makes the rear end light, coupled with the spring component of the tire makes the the rear wheel too light. If friction is reduced, especially such as in wet or damp pavement it can even get more entertaining.

Thank goodness I only did that on a training ride. Where 42cm or longer chainstays have become my preference.
