There were two rally RDs. One had a fixed upper pivot like the NR, and was about the worst piece of horsepucky I ever tried to make work.
The other was a rather good wide range rear derailleur with a spring loaded upper pivot. Campy needed to make a wide range derailleur to work with the triple crankset. The Rally was a perfect match.
If you set up the triple crank as a half step, the NR FD worked just duckily.
