None of them will substitute for missing threads or will replace threads, but a Helicoil will...and Helicoil does NOT want you to use any adhesives when you install their threaded inserts, they rely on spring tension to stay in place. The Helicoil inserts that we used in the early 80's didn't have any spring tension, they were simple double threaded steel inserts. They required some sort of adhesive (we used epoxy) to keep them in place.
