If the noises to put RFID chips in paper currency ever get implemented, that's another reason not to send cash in the mail. Imagine some ambitious postal or customs worker gets hold of an RFID scanner and waves it over the mail being processed -- "Says there's 50 quid in this one; lets have a look!" Or even pickpockets... "Wow, this guys carrying quite a wad, lets boost his wallet!"
