Don,
I had the same experience and have been watching this bike on a version of Explorer that it works on (it doesn't work at all on my usual Netscape). Anyway I collect track bikes although I would not call myself an expert. That said, to me it looks very much like a 40's bike.
Bar shape, headset collar, inch pitch chain etc. Somebody wrote early on that the hubs looked wrong. They certainly are different. Front looks British (BSA or something) but the rear does look like the Schwinn hubs that are on my CCM. Those have Schwinn "sunshine"(?) hubs.
Additionally, when I blew up the pics on Adobe Photoshop, you can clearly see box striping and CHICAGO written on the seat tube. My eye is not sophisticated enough to know to tell if this IS or is NOT a 40's Paramount. It is 40's however and with the words Chicago and the headbadge one would suspect that it is. Whether most of the parts are OEM....I don't know. Having said all this I am still agonizing over if to bid or not. Edward Albert Chappaqua, NY
