Subject: [CR]Holdsworth Ideal Bicycle for 1952

My ideal 1952 Holdsworth "Whirlwind" model choice of specification would be as follows. Built on 27"x1.1/4" Dunlop stainless steel rims and wide flange double fixed Airlite hubs, 1/8" Reynolds chain ,Cyclo sprocket , Williams C34 46T chainset, Webb steel quill pedals, GB MK.2 Grand Tour brake set, Brooks B17 narrow saddle, GB handlebars with GB 3"stem. Bluemell mudgards and pump.Every Ready battery power front and rear lights. The upgrading on any original specification would always be in the mind when financial circumstances improved!

The above selection is based on fact of the price I could afford at the time as a apprentice building worker and I'm sure Sandy Holdsworth would have understood my choice under these circumstances. Another consideration at the time was knowing it was going to take at least two years of my low wages pay off the debt. Fix wheel riding was the order of the day so one was able to save having the extra costs involved any type of gears.
