I just moved from SLC to Seattle, and all my stuff (see bike list at end) will arive today. I will have to buy numerous small items (cables, bar tape ...) to start getting them together, and hope to start riding in a day or two. So, here are the questions:
1) What bike shops would you recommend? Any that might have an intersting bike on display, or have an intersting owner/employee.
2) Does anyone ever get together for vintage rides here?
Dan - I own Elliott Bay Bicycles near the Pike Place Market in Seattle. I
have been a list member for several years. I have been into vintage bikes for
20 years or so and have about 15 of my collection (of about 50 bikes) on
display in the store. I have a lot of vintage parts in my personal collection and
keep things like Campy replacement gum hoods and brake pads in stock in the
store. I have organized the last 3 vintage shows we have had here and have tried
to organize some vintage rides too but have a hard time getting any of these
fat old farts out on their bikes. I ride with the Seattle Bicycle Club most
Wednesday evenings, often on one of my vintage bikes, and also ride with them
on the weekends frequently. Check out their rides at http://www.seattlebicycle.com.
There are probably 25 pretty active collectors here, with a few like me that
have multiple bikes. In my store, we build the Davidson custom bikes, and also
do restorations. Check out my yahoo albums at

Cheers and Welcome to Seattle
