Don - You do know to turn the allen clockwise to loosen, right? I suppose you've already tried just twisting it loose by grabbing hold of the shift lever and rotating? Second idea is, try to jam a 1/4" allen in there. It is a 6 mm and 1/4" is just a little larger, about 6.35 mm. If it is already wrecked you can't hurt it much more. If you can get it out, at least save the parts. They are pretty hard to find these days. The pivot bolt, flat nut, and domed nut, spring, cover plate, and cover plate screw are all good parts to have around.
