Ugly things can happen on rims like this if you crash or start to crash. I have seen crashes where a front Medal de Or suddenly folded and broke into pieces as the rider crashed. The result was a broken collar bone and head impact as the rider was pitched downward. At least twice I remember seeing a rider getting loaded on a stretcher with the riders bike having a broken Medal de Or on the front wheel. .
These are time trial rims in my opinion. Even for light riders.

Medaille d'Or rims fine, for a front wheel. NO probs ever, even when
decending like a stone. The wheel I had built for my 76 Sachs in 1978 is
still on the bike!

wheel when the Sachs goes back into service. Wheels may be consumables, but
no point in consuming one as a result of false economy, or vanity.

light at 330 gm. The Medaille d'Or at 260 gm was hard for me to keep in

Championat du Monde, I believe.
