I had a flat not long ago with no apparent puncture. I had gone through a patch of gravel, but no glass. I concluded the valve had separated from the tube. I thought perhaps I did not have the tire adequately glued to the rim, allowing the valve to move around too much, but maybe cheap construction was a factor as well. Funny, in retrospect, but not at the time, story. I changed the tire, then made the mistake of reinstalling the wheel before inflating the spare. While I was inflating it, the bike started to fall over. I instinctively lunged to catch the frame, and in the process twisted the pump and broke the valve stem on the spare. Now I'm 10 mile from home with a flat tire and a flat spare. Anyone else ever done this (who's willing to admit to it)? Fortunately, a passing motorist saw my agonized expression and gave me a ride home.
