Yes, the back plate of Mafac centerpulls, which carries the mounting bolt, is secured by the pivot bolts. It's a simple matter to back off the pivot bolts, remove the back plate, then thread the pivot bolts directly into bosses on the forkblades. The bosses are not the same as cantilever bosses, but I think a good framebuilder may be able to modify cantilever bosses to work. A bit of Simichrome will really make Mafac calipers and levers shine. I think Mafac CPs mounted to brazeon bosses is the coolest brake setup ever, with the possible exception of CLB "self-energizing" (or whatever that buzzword was) CPs.

With modern cables and housing, I think they work rather well on my PX-10 and the svelte levers fit my small hands nicely. But I have no mountain descending experience with them.
