I was interesterd to see that the Roma-Napoli-Roma race was paced behind what looks like an early Vespa scooter. How many other races, other than Bordeaux/Paris, were paced races? Was Roma-Napoli-Roma paced the whole way, or did they pick up the pacers part way in like Bordeaux/Paris?
These old pics are great, I wish I had kept my Dad's old copies of Cycling magazine from the 30's up to the late 50's, unfortunately they all got chucked in the garbage.
