Subject: [CR]Information on Dave Marsh - World Champion in 1922

I recently gave a talk at the "no click" club in Toronto on Graham Webb thinking I would start out saying he was one of only 2 British men to have won the World Road Championship, Graham as an amateur and Tom Simpson as a pro (no I haven't forgotten Beryl Burton, I was talking about the men).

In researching my talk I discovered that the 1922 championships were at Hadhall-Shawbury in the U.K. and that 3 British riders filled the podium, Dave Marsh the winner and W.T. Burkill and C.F. Davey filling the next 2 places. When I presented this information saying that I had never heard of Dave Marsh or this World Championship, I was told that this was a time-trial and not a road race. The distance was 161km so it seems a bit long for a time trial.

Does anyone know anything about this race, was it indeed a time trial or was it a road race?
