> I'm glad to report a 100% successful CR Ride today, as there was no rain,
all riders returned safely to our starting point and no blood was spilled.
Weather turned out to be fine, the first hot day of the year, with the sun
smiling down out of a milky blue sky. Mike Schmidt, Gabriel Romeu and his
lovely wife Rita Romeu showed up to ride. Mike was on his newly painted
Monteletici mit der Baylis paint job, Gabriel operated a nice, nice original
medium green finish Paramount P10 ('72, right?) and Rita was on an
unmentionable modern machine. Regretably for us retro grouches, Rita was
the only one to navigate the course without a mechanical when Mike blew the
sidewall of an old, old tire that Mark Poore warned him not to trust,
Gabriel flatted in the midst of multi million dollar mansions in Rumson, and
I dropped my chain just a mile from the finish line, leaving Rita the clear
winner as rider with the most class. MIke almost won for riding tubulars,
but two demerits to him
> for failing to remind me to take some pictures.

> I'll leave it to the participants to provide opinons of the route, but
remember you still can come and see for yourself. We're repeating the ride
tomorrow at 1:30 from the Gibbs hall parking lot 2-4 miles NE of exit 105 of
the Garden State parkway. North on Hope road, right on Tinton, turn into
the Golf course/Gibbs Hall parking lot. Suddenly found you've got a couple
hours free tommorrow? Then come on down and ride! RSVP to me by email
tonite or by 0900 tomorrow or to my cell after that (816-838-9721) so I
don't run off and leave you. Hope you can come.
