Forty-Five Years Ago
First break-away of the 1961 Giro di Lombardia... here neo-pro Franco Balmamion (Italy; Bianchi) leads from teammate Bruno Mealli (Italy; Bianchi), Anatole Novak (France; Alcyon), Aldo Moser (Italy; Ghigi), Carlo Brugnami (Italy; Torpado), and Edgard Sorgeloos (Bel; Faema). Looks like Bianchi is one of the last pro teams still using cottered steel cranks. From "But et Club - Le Miroir des Sports" No.879, 23 October 1961.
