Greetings to all, especially the local SoCal "CR" gang,
Well, I don't know where to start, this was my 4th "VR", I have enjoyed each
one more than the previous, they just keep getting better..... I do enjoy
seeing our local "CR" crowd and especially the out of towner's, who I only
get to see once or twice a year...
I was very humbly surprised when Chuck said "bring your bike over" I really
didn't expect anything, though to be honest, I had hope :-)
This bike has been long in the process and had to come together in very
short time, yikes!! But, Ed Litton sent it just in time and then to add more
drama, the week before "Velo", we had planned our vacation, so I only had a
week to pull it together....... I hadn't seen the parts tub in quite a
while!! Geez, what's missing?, what needs polishing?, what needs to be
re-chromed?? Well, the chrome was out for sure.... So, I furiously called
and emailed a few listmembers to ask a bunch of "What's correct??"
questions......
I bought this bike as a project, a frame and a pile of parts, mostly all
there..... I slowly collected what I needed and the frame had to be
refinished, only the head panel and seat tube panel had been saved, I left
the final decision as to how far to go, to Ed Litton's experienced eye...
So, I have never seen it in one piece, until this past weekend, it was quite
a learning process, a bit of trial and error.... but, in the end it worked,
yippie!!
Big thanks to Chuck and Sherry, your contribution to our small community, is
great indeed.
Many thanks to my "CR" friends, whose knowledge helped me finish this bike.
C'ya on the road, I'll be the one learning to shift as smooth as Aldo :-)
