In about 1978, stronglight replaced the 93 crankset with the 105 crank, started to offer drillium chainwheels and normal chainwheels for their major crank models (105 and 99). I remember it distinctly from the Palo Alto Bikes catalogue - they really played up these cranks in a big way.

The drillium cranks were always suffixed with "B.I.S.", so this crank is a stronglight 99 B.I.S. crankset. The Strong 105bis crank was used on peugeot PY-10 bicycles.

Does anyone know what french words B.I.S. stands for ?? Thanx,

It is lower case bis, not B.I.S. It means modified or with modification.
