I suppose this comes under the "your milage may vary" banner.............

I've installed a bunch of these in personal and customer bikes. I've never used Loctite on any of these, nor would I as the threads are very very fine. I chamfer using a MAVIC cutting tool, grease lightly, and tightening with a firm but not heavy hand using the MAVIC lockring tools. To the best of my knowledge none has come loose.......................

I believe MAVIC offered several grades of tools for headsets and Bottom Brackets, that may account for some of the differences. Could be the grease lets things get just a little bit tighter......................

Good Luck,
