The Pope's bicycle was presented on August 29, 1978 according to COLNAGO, the biography by Sergio Meda published in 1986. In fact, the book begins with that information. However, Colnago's website says 1979, as does the story here about the Colnago Museum (you can click on the photo to enlarge

The decals on the are certainly later than 1973; 1978-79 is probably a better choice for those but I'm not an expert.
