OK, here is the whole story on that bike.

Eddie Albert and I had both been sleuthing around looking for it for a few years after we became aware of its (at least former) existence when Dick Power's grandson, John Power Jr. posted the picture of Dick holding the bike at the 1950 Nationals.

About a year ago I got an email from Al Toefield's granddaughter thanking me for remembering Al on my web site. She had found it by Googling his name. If you want to see that page here is the link. Scroll all the way down:

After a series of emails back and forth I asked Al's granddaughter if she knew where the tiny Dick Power bike was and she said "Sure, its in my grandmother's basement!". Turns out that Al had bought the dregs of Dick's shop when Dick went out of business. Needless to say I was really excited to locate it. Mrs Toefield offered the bike to me, but after some discussion it was decided that the bike should go to John Power Jr; father of Dick's great grandson who is in the picture with the bike on Dave Perry's web site. Here is a web page I put up when I brought the bike home.

Eddie presented a paper on Dick Power and the All American Wheelman at the International Bicycle History Conference in Toronto this Summer. After I displayed the bike at Cirque I gave it to Eddie to display in Toronto at the conference. Then he handed it off the John Power because they live in the same town.

Merry Christmas, Jamie
