Subject: [CR]Eddy on the attack

Jay Sexton wrote about the photo we see of Eddy. He is low on the bike to get out of the wind. Personally, I spend most of my time "JRA" and on the hoods. My racing days are about 25 years (and 25 lbs), ago anyway. I am still thinking about the statement that says that if you spend a lot of time on the hoods, your HBs are too low. With my setup (s), I do think riding on the hoods is the most comfortable, as well as safe, as it allows me to view all around (back, side and front).

Someone mentioned that today's bikes are "safer". I tend to disagree, as these last ten years have been marked by injury after injury. We never had this from 1975 to say, 1985. I thought I was alone in thinking this, but Baylis commented that he did not remember anyone getting hurt back in the mid-70's. And so, while the bikes may be safer, should we not conclude that "bicycle riders" today, are not safer?
